Hair, Beauty & Style.

Hey- Hey- Hey!

It's been a while since I last blogged, I've actually missed it, a little bit, but I had to focus on Uni and now that its done.... Styling continues. Whoop! I've been capturing some of my looks but not had a chance to upload, so I shall be working a little differently in my next few posts and simply sharing some photos over the weeks.

My hair is still transitioning.  I was so close to relaxing after the LONG process I experienced during washing and conditioning. It is so time consuming and hard to deal with once wet, I actually had enough! But the Lord has reminded me why I first started to go natural in the first place and so I am going to stick to it until further notice.

One of the reasons I wanted to go natural, was to show my little sister who is 8 years old, that natural hair is also beautiful! She used to see me with relaxed hair and would tell me how much she wanted to relax her hair too. She seemed to believe that pretty girls were only the ones with long straight hair because that's all she saw even on her big sister...so sad :(... It hurt me to see that even though I told her time and time again how beautiful she is, especially with her hair being natural, she would say ' yeah, but I want hair like yours'.... I felt the burn as she would say that, as I realised I wasn't setting a good example for her. Saying one thing then doing the other. I realised that I can't tell my sister that she doesn't need to relax her hair to be beautiful if I do not show her also. So since my hair has been transitioning, she has been ministered to, and I see it in how she talks about herself and her hair now. Since then she has been so encouraged because she has seen my natural hair styles and asked me to let her Afro out etc. I love that she is growing in loving herself as she is, but I have to keep it up because if I do give up and relax my hair right now, she may retract back to the lies and so I do not want that for my sister or any of you ladies.

There isn't anything wrong with straight hair, I just believe that beauty is not defined by your hair type and that we should know that our beauty is from a character pleasing to Christ which can be displayed on curly, short, long, straight, Afro, black, ginger, brown hair....all hair types are beautiful as they are and so I want to embrace it. One day when The Lord gives me a peace regarding my sister's heart and her foundations in Him I may relax it, because it is easier to manage and I do like it, but all according to His time and leading. I do not want my sister to end up consumed with the lies fed in this society, so I must live and speak the truth to her. Loving her enough to be willing to inconvenience myself. Her soul is precious and she deserves to know and experience the truth and I want to give her a positive example to aspire to follow. I love my family and I love being a big sister and Aunty.

By His grace I am who I am.

This weekend just gone was my best friend's birthday. She is an amazing sister and friend to me. We work so well together because we are IN Christ and Jesus is at the centre of our Kingdomship! She is so stylish and modest with it too! Without Jesus it wouldn't work as well as it does, but we are in agreeing with Christ and therefore we both walk together, in Him. Amos 3:3 style.
