I am so pleased that SPRING is here - I love the sun! Although the weather is not very consistent and is super windy at the moment, I'm trying to make the most of the sun everyday that it comes out. I really like poncho's in Spring as they can be styled with a number of different looks and can make any standard outfit a little more 'dressy'. I really like the fact that I can throw this over a simple all black look - with or without a belt to change up the style, plus it gives me coverage in a stylish manner.

When I wear fitted trousers, I always tend to wear them with long dress tops, cardigans or other items which give coverage to my bum and overall shape. This is not because I'm insecure about how God has made me or anything negative, but it is more to do with the fact that I have the conviction that being practically modest is not just about something being too short but also I do have to be mindful about items that are too tight. When things are tight they can bring attention to the shape of a woman, which can be unhelpful and doesn't lend itself to dressing discretely. I don't personally like to wear leggings as trousers (i.e with a short top and no real coverage) as I understand them to be undergarments! Even though it is more 'socially acceptable', Father has taught me different [Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. - Romans 12:2] and therefore I always opt to wear thicker jeans rather than mere leggings, which are pretty much footless tights. It wouldn't be good or beneficial for anyone to walk around in just tights and a short top therefore it's not an option for me.

In the spring I like to mix up different fabrics so that I do not get super hot or super cold. With this look I simply wore a black basic t-shirt, so that if it got a bit warmer I would still be cool and if it got more chilly, I am able to cover myself with the poncho anyway. I created this high low-peplum type effect by just using a belt and pulling the poncho into position. Tip: The thicker the belt, the more structure it gives to the poncho to create the high low-peplum look. It's real easy to achieve and is a great look if you plan to wear jeans or a pencil skirt, and want to keep it classy and your silhouette discrete.

'When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,
Discretion will preserve you;Understanding will keep you,
To deliver you from the way of evil...'
Proverbs 2:10-12

'Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.
Discretion will watch over you, and understanding will guard you,'
Proverbs 2:11

This verse of scripture is something that comes up often when I think about being a modest woman. Not just in my outward presentation, but even with how I conduct myself and speak.

Discretion is such a precious stone in a woman's crown. I imagine myself, (as a royal daughter of God, through Jesus Christ) with a crown, and that each jewel on this crown represents the different qualities He wants to see in me. Lacking one of these qualities is like having a missing jewel. To me, discretion is one of those jewels and lacking it, is clearly visible to all that my crown is missing a key GEM! It will not look as beautiful as it could be if it lacks this quality. There are others too which I consider with this picture/example, which helps me to focus on what really matters to God above what I outwardly present, but discretion is one of those ones I am constantly desiring to cherish, by His grace!

It is SO comforting to know that I will be kept by God for simply appreciating and learning to be a discrete woman through and through. It will KEEP me/us! Keep us away from unwanted attention, keep us away from drama's and it will help to guide me/us. I see this verse unfolding already in how it guides me in my wardrobe choices. It is a blessing to know and to learn how to present His temple in a discrete manner. The journey continues!
