All You Need Is Love

There have been a number of lessons that I have learnt in my walk with Christ but this has to be one of the most life changing things I have allowed into my heart by His grace.

Over the last few years the Lord has been teaching me and revealing His love for me - on a personal level, which has changed the way I view God, others and myself! Through His Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5) God has poured His love into my heart and changed my heart of stone, to a heart of flesh! He has given me the grace to love without fear of rejection or being hurt. His word is still being perfected in my heart but I can testify that His LOVE has changed me, and I realise more today than ever before that all I need is love! Love motivates holiness. Love for God will allow me to see myself right so that I can appreciate His handy work, which is me. As I appreciate who He made me to be, and focus on giving Him thanks for the good things about me, it gives me the grace to also do that about others. To love them as He has loved me and how I should love myself (Mark 12:30-31). Through different books in the bible, Father has really changed different aspects of my mindset. Here are a few lessons I learnt from verses and books in the word:

Jonah - Father changed my heart from being judgmental towards myself and others to seeing His compassion for me and them, especially for those who have some knowledge of truth yet still choose to live a lifestyle of sin, and areas to my own life/character that I want to be changed in so much but still haven't fully got it yet. As brothers and sisters in Christ, Holy Spirit filled we are to make a righteous judgement about things (1 Corinthians 2:15 - The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments) and to admonish one another if we see each other in error, however it is not our role or licence to write somebody off and label them as 'ungodly and that they will never change'. This goes for what we also think about ourselves also - whatever it is that needs to change about us, even if its not the most talked about sin, such as being fearful/unforgiving/constantly late/double minded/plain foolish over and over etc. Yes, some people may be ungodly for a long period of time and refuse change, so we have to be prayerful and led about such individuals and situations, but the same love that reached you and allowed you to see Him rightfully can do that to any other heart. If you do not believe God can change you, you will not be able to believe He can change someone else. Unfortunately not everyone will accept Jesus, this we know, but He still has unconditional love for that which He made in His image. In having a love for righteousnesspurity - holiness, it has to be fueled by unconditional love and compassion or it can turn very religious and self righteous thinking can kick in and that is not good!

One of the things I learnt from this book is that we should focus on Christ (#DovesEyes) in our pursuit to live righteously and to not become dismayed or annoyed about those who live contrary to the word, even if, you have been led to speak and share truth and they reject it over and over (see Jonah 4)! It's not nice to see or know someone is in error but He knows and He is on the case. I believe everyone should read this book, especially if you are one who does not like nonsense, you get grieved when you see things not as the word describes and if you truly desire to see people living righteously. This book will ensure you're in line with Fathers heart and truly cleanse you of any sort of 'pharisee spirit'! You can have a righteous indignation about things, even cut people out of your life as led to, yet still have it flow from a place of unconditional love and not 'I'm a better disciple than you, I just love God way too much to do the stupid things you are doing' mentality. That is not the right heart. We should be boasting in His love for us, because that is what keeps us, not our love for Him alone. The balance is only learnt by Him because it is developed in spending time with Him, nobody can give you a love for holiness and the Fathers love, but Himself. You have to study this book  - it has changed my life!

2 Peter 3:9'The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.'

This verse together with Jonah really spoke volumes to me that God is patient! ♡ He gives us time to grasp what He is revealing to us. He gives us time to seek Him & find Him. He gives us time to grow & flourish into all He has always seen in us...regardless of if we see it right now or not. He has the most loving & wonderful plans for us all - individually and collectively. He LOVES you and me - He is faithful to take care of you and me, despite how things look in our hearts. Don't be so hard on yourself and think you have to earn His love - that's not the case. Accepting the Lord's patience towards us it is not about us seeing how much can we get away with because 'God is patient' - No! This is more about us knowing that He wants hearts to repent and to be holy as He is holy. We should know that He is doing a work in us and loves us way too much to let us remain timid, scared, proud, rude, sensual, insecure, double minded, unwise, flirtatious and anything else ungodly. He wants us pure so He will do it, in His perfect time, but we have to be willing to change with Him and not make excuses for sin. God IS Love and Love does not give room for sin!

Songs of Solomon - Although this book is known to be about romance, Jesus really used this to show me the love story between Him and His bride. He is thee Bridegroom - thee Beloved - my Bridegroom - my Beloved, who desires a Bride that is fully in love with Him and has doves eyes for Him. Since this book, doves have become even more interesting to me, because of how Father made them. Doves are designed by God to have no peripheral vision, so their eyes are always focused on what is in front of them. Usually, it is their mate, and with that what one does, the other does. They are constantly watching each other. It's actually so amazing to see. They don't get distracted! They are totally focused and devoted to whatever they see and give undivided attention to it. This is why these birds have the nickname "love birds" and why people use this to describe people who are in a relationship (by Gods grace a godly one!) and only focus on that one person. In Songs, you see Solomon describing the Shulamite woman as having doves eyes, which may not sound very 'romantic' but He was talking and describing the attention, devotion, undistracted and undivided focus she had towards him and what he had for her from the beginning! What a complement!! God has doves eyes for me/His bride and wants His bride/me to mirror Him with being willingly devoted, focused and in tune with Him. This is my desire, to have doves eyes/that single focus for my King all the days of my life.

Songs of Solomon 1:15
 - "Behold, you are fair, my love; behold, you are fair; you have doves' eyes."

Father truly used this book to reveal and imprint into my heart the pursuit Christ has for His Bride and how much Ephesians 5 (one of my favourite passages) is SO real. He truly makes His bride pure, and it is all because of love! As He pursues us, He awaits for a response from us.

Will we love Him back wholeheartedly? Will we love Him out of choice and not feelings? - because there will be days you don't feel like reading your word or studying but will you still make time for Him and give Him all of you? Even in your busy days will you allow Him to be the One who leads, guides, provides and protects you? What is your response? Will you live for Him and let Him make you holy? Will you cut off the things He asks of you? Will you let your beauty come from within and not from drawn on eyebrows?

These are some of the questions I ask myself regularly, because I have to ensure my love is genuine for Him. A personal revelation of His perfect love toward you will change your life for the better! Jesus has captured my heart! I'm in love with Love! His love satisfies my soul and gives me emotional stability, which is only found in/through Jesus. It's through His love, that we are healed & satisfied. Not in how much money we/I make, not in if we are married or not, not from having a roof over our heads, not from having stuff that will not be in eternity. Although those things are nice to have, they do not fill the void and longing in my heart, but His love does!

Ephesians 3:17-19 - 'Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.' #ThisIsLife

Paul's prayer in the passage really challenges me. He could have prayed for anything but He understood that the love of God is what was needed for people to have the fullness of life and the strength to endure things in life. That revelation would unlock so many things. I find that when His love fills your heart, things you battled with before you find easier to surrender because He becomes the One you want to please. It may not be overnight but I tell you It.Is.Real!

Romans 5:5 - '...hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.'

He is my hope. No matter what I am facing, I have to cling to Him. I go through challenges the same way everyone else does, I cry and ask God questions when it seems like I have no clue what is going on, but His love holds me and keeps me in a way that nothing else can. My desire is to keep His love at the forefront of my mind and to boast in His love for me, even to myself. I need to remind myself daily that I am loved by Christ and that nothing else will satisfy me, because many ideas try to come into my mind to suggest otherwise! I have to cast down every imagination that is not godly and also expectations from other people and live freely in His love. God loves me and has set me apart for Himself, which means I will not be left to be carnal and ungodly, but He will do everything to ensure I am chaste, wise, clean, confident in Him, intimate with Him and growing in Love.

1 Corinthians 13:13 - Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

In this walk, you can try to abstain from things that are ungodly, you can try to read the word and even decide you want to dress modest etc, but really it will not mean much if none of these things are done from a place of real love. His love is not one to assume you have the revelation for, and even if you do, seek again because His love is much bigger than what we know so far!

Looking to change anything in your life/character that is not Christ like?... Remember that God is Love. Therefore all you need is Love = All you need is God! Repent of anything needed, trust Him and stay focused. Eternity is on the line.
