Ombré Maxi Skirt

Maxi Skirt: Primark | Top: Next | Black Strapless Top* required for chiffon blouses/tops | Black Heels: Next | Belt: A Set Apart Boutique (currently not available)

I absolutely love this ombré skirt which I picked up from Primark about three years ago. I actually purchased this one size up from my usual size as they didn't have my size left at the time. The fact it's bigger than my normal size means I can restyle it as a strapless dress with a blazer on another occasion, which I will show you another day.

Summer time gives me more opportunity to wear more flowy items which keep me cool. Even though this skirt is a great length, it can be transparent in the light, so I wear it with a slip underneath to avoid any exposure.

Staying cool in the heat is all about the fabrics you wear. I choose to wear a lot of chiffon items which I style with slips and tops if it is transparent. For this top, I wear it with a black strapless top. I used to wear strapless tops and dresses just like that, but I now prefer to have a little more coverage and opt for blouses or other things to wear with my strapless tops.

What am I currently learning or meditating on:
Let the report of the Lord be your meditation and what you base your life on. People may have many opinions of you - where you are in your life - what THEY think you should be doing etc etc but what the Lord says and thinks is what should be adhered to!

His love towards me continues to be minister to me and really challenges my thinking. I see my shortcomings time and time again, and He does too yet He sees past all of that and sees the gold in me. He is so faithful to see me refined as the Bride He designed me to be to Him and for that reason He sees the best in me and draws it out of me, by removing the things in me that do not reflect Him.

In order to do this, I go through a process of having to uncover things in my heart, no matter how long I have buried them in there for. In order for me to grow and mature I have to confront them with His word and let Him heal me, correct me, love on me and restore anything that has not been like Him. This process hurts, but it is so worth it! So I'm looking to the Author and Finisher of my faith to perfect all that concerns me and to make me beautiful with His salvation - even saving me from a bad thinking. It's so important for us to renew our mind and take everything we base in our life through the filter provided to me in the word in Philippians 4:8-9: 'Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.'

Whatever statement, declaration, 'feeling' or thought we have about life and ourselves we have to ask:
  • Is this true? - What does scripture say about this thought or feeling?
  • Is it noble? - but hold up...what does Father mean by noble?! Let's first start there and then we can move on...
  • Noble defined having or showing fine personal qualities or high moral principles.
  • Synonyms:- righteous, virtuous, good, honourable, honest, upright, upstanding, decent, worthy, noble-minded, uncorrupted, anti-corruption, moral, ethical, reputable, magnanimous, unselfish, generous, self-sacrificing, brave.
So in examining myself I am asking myself, 'is this idea, thought, feeling righteous? Does it bring glory to Jesus? Is it morally correct?'

This is all so deep and it's a process which I have to activity go through if I want to reap the benefit of having the God of peace with me as verse 9 puts it. Not that I have to earn Him like that, but it is a by product of having my mind fixed on Him, even in the midst of things in life.

If Father highlights something in me as wrong then I have to repent and ask for His grace to change and be right with Him. This passage is packed with so much to meditate and fix our eyes on and the more I break down each word, the better understanding I will have of the type of mind I should always have in Him. I have studied this passage before, but I am reviewing it as it is a must for me right now in this season to stay focused!

I pray He unpacks these verses to me and aligns me to the right thinking all the days of my life! :)

See you at my next post.

With love,
Nash Amber
